Recovering From A Breakup

If you’ve ever been in a relationship with someone that you truly cared for, you know how devastating the pain can be after the breakup happens. Logically…you can see all of the reasons why it might have needed to happen. But sometimes it takes our hearts a little bit more time to heal and let go.

It’s in these moments where the enemy loves to attack our identity. He will whisper lies to your spirit saying, “No one will ever like you…you weren’t good enough for them. What makes you think you will ever have a chance at a healthy relationship again?”

Or how about this one: “It’s too painful to love. People will always disappoint you. Better put walls up and distance yourself from everyone so you never have to be hurt like this again.”

Or finally…”God doesn’t really care about this area of your life. If he did, you would be married or in a relationship right now and this never would have happened.”

You guys…the enemy is a liar. And he loves to kick Christians while they are down. God cares about this area of your life more than you would ever know, and He wants what is best for you.

In seasons right after a breakup, what we often feel like we experience is a “love deficit.” That void feels much stronger when we are in a vulnerable place, and we need to look to GOD to fill that ache first and foremost-not people. God’s love is a perfect love and He can be 100% trusted. And when we allow Him to fill that void in our hearts after a breakup and we put a “Do not disturb” sign on our hearts for a season, we come out a much healthier person who is able to embrace the healing love of our Father so that He can prepare us for more.

Never forget today, my friends: Your worth is not based on the words that someone has spoken over you, how you were treated, or by who accepts you and who rejects you. Your love is ONLY dictated by Jesus’ love for you and the fact that He was willing to die a brutal death on the cross for you.

For those that are healing…give yourself time. Cast down the lies of the enemy. Run into the beautiful arms of Jesus. And know that no matter how bad the storm seems right now, God is a God of restoration and He is able to make beauty from those ashes that you are staring at in your life right now. Spend some time in worship today and receive his love for you, my friends. He cares about that situation more than you know, and even if things look dark right now, He STILL has good plans for you.
