Trusting God When It Doesn’t Make Sense

We’ve all been in those seasons. The season’s of “why.” The promise is taking longer than we thought to come to pass. Something happened to us that was sent by the devil that is causing devastation. Betrayals. Job losses. Sickness. The loss of a loved one. The list goes on and on.

How do we trust God in the midst of the unknown? Often we try to “figure it all out” in these seasons. But God never told us to figure it all out. He told us to TRUST Him. Easier said than done sometimes, right? But this is where knowing the character and direction of our loving Father is so so SO important.

Listen to what the Word of God says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

In other words, we are lovingly directed to lean not on our own understanding. But how comforting to know that when we submit to God’s guidance and lean on Him, HE will make our paths straight. It takes the pressure off of us enormously, doesn’t it?

God doesn’t always tell us the “why” over our situations and why certain things happen to us and our loved ones, but He does promise that He will “never leave us nor forsake us” (Hebrews 13:5) and that he is “making our paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6)

How comforting to know that we serve a God who cares. Who sees. And who is still in control. Even when we don’t understand.
